Keeping your new smile straight for life.
Your teeth want to drift back to where they started. A retainer keeps them where they belong.
Retainers are included in your treatment fee, and Dr. Schuler follows up to make sure your smile stays on track.
Made right here in our office, so replacements are quick.
Dr. Schuler will recommend the best option based on your case and your habits, and many patients use both.
Thin, nearly invisible trays custom-made in our office. Easy to remove for eating and cleaning.
A thin wire bonded behind your front teeth, usually the lower ones, that keeps them in place around the clock with nothing to remember.
Wear it full-time for the first 6 months, then every night. Teeth can shift at any age, so nightly wear long-term is the best way to protect your results.
You may have a slight lisp for the first few days. Reading or talking out loud helps you adjust faster.
Brush it daily with cool or lukewarm water, since hot water can warp it. Keep it in its case whenever it's out of your mouth; most lost retainers end up wrapped in a napkin or chewed by a pet. Keep it away from heat like hot cars and dishwashers, take it out to eat and before swimming, and bring it to every follow-up visit. Never adjust it yourself. Call us if it feels loose, tight, or cracked.
