Dr. Elizabeth Schuler
Our orthodontist, Dr. Schuler, is a Portland native who has enjoyed living in various regions of the country during her undergraduate education and professional training. She earned her undergraduate degree in Spanish Language & Composition and completed her dental education at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry.
Dr. Schuler began her dental career practicing in a children's dental office in Kentucky, then relocated to South Carolina, where she held a faculty position in the Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental Medicine — teaching dental courses, supervising student clinics, mentoring students conducting research, and treating her own patients in a faculty private practice. After several years practicing dentistry, she moved to New York to complete specialty training in orthodontics at NYU Medical Center. She then returned to Portland and has been practicing at Rockwood Orthodontics since 2021.
At NYU, she treated an unusually high volume of complex bite cases — including many that required coordinating treatment with oral surgery. That experience is part of why Rockwood is one of the few orthodontic practices in the Portland area that accepts OHP today: with over 15 years of clinical experience, Dr. Schuler remains comfortable with cases that other practices sometimes refer out, from routine treatment to more complex, surgically-involved cases.
